BRS Performs Milk Abhishekam To KCR Portrait Marking 10 Years Of District Reorganisation
BRS workers held rallies and prayers in Hanamkonda to mark 10 years of Telangana’s district reorganisation, praising KCR’s role in creating 33 districts.
The BRS marked the 10th anniversary of district reorganisation in Telangana with a series of events in Hanamkonda on Saturday, including interfaith prayers and a rally led by former government chief whip Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar.
Party workers took out a rally from the BRS district office to the integrated district collectorate and performed a milk abhishekam to a portrait of former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao outside the premises.
The event came amid a political dispute over district reorganisation, following a Congress protest in which workers burnt an effigy of Chandrashekar Rao.
Vinay Bhaskar said Chandrashekar Rao had reorganised the existing 10 districts into 33 to bring administration closer to the people. He said decentralisation of power had been a key objective of the Telangana movement.
He said historians, intellectuals and members of the public had requested Chandrashekar Rao to rename Warangal Urban district as Hanumakonda. In response, Chandrashekar Rao created Hanumakonda district in 2021, he added.
Vinay Bhaskar said Hanumakonda had received priority in education, healthcare, information technology and employment during the BRS regime. He alleged that all sections of society were facing injustice under the present government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
He said the time was approaching for people to teach a fitting lesson to the Congress government, which he accused of disregarding public aspirations.
Party leaders said the events were part of anniversary programmes being held across Telangana on October 10 and 11 at the call of BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao.
