BRS-Cong 'Water wars' - Uttam To Make Two Presentations Today
The first presentation will focus on diversion of Krishna waters by Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad: Amidst the continuing ‘water wars’ between the BRS and the Congress, Wednesday will see irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy making two presentations on issues related to diversion of Krishna river by Andhra Pradesh, and on how the redesigning of the Pranahita-Chevella project into the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme left a lasting impact on Telangana.
Wednesday’s presentations follow one on July 1 by Uttam Kumar Reddy on Andhra Pradesh’s Polavaram(Godavari)-
Wednesday’s presentations at Praja Bhavan will be attended by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Cabinet ministers, MPs, MLCs, MLAs and chairpersons of government corporations, according to a news release from the irrigation minister’s office.
The first presentation will focus on diversion of Krishna waters by Andhra Pradesh and will outline how the infrastructure for illegal diversion of the water was built and strengthened during the 10 years of BRS rule from 2014 t0 2023, the release said.
The second will give details of the BRS government changing the then Pranahita-Chevella project location from Tummidihatti to Medigadda, and consequences of that decision. It will also focus on the key findings of the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA), and the report of the Vigilance & Enforcement investigation into various aspects of the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages.
The presentation will also discuss how the ‘disastrous’ Kaleshwaram project ended up permanently damaging the state’s finances, the release added.
