BJP Slams Police Action on Go Rakshaks
The BJP demanded that police act impartially, stop lodging false complaints, and ensure peace and communal harmony during Bakrid
HYDERABAD: The BJP on Sunday condemned what it termed “harassment” of ‘go rakshaks’ by police ahead of Bakrid, demanding an immediate halt to filing “false and wrongful” FIRs against them. State BJP president N. Ramchander Rao, in a press statement, described the Attapur incident on Saturday night as “deeply unfortunate” and alleged that police, acting under MIM pressure, were targeting cow protection volunteers instead of maintaining law and order impartially.
“Go rakshaks and voluntary workers are being harassed and treated like criminals,” Rao said, urging authorities to protect Hindu sentiments tied to the cow, which he called a symbol of spiritual and cultural significance. He stressed the need for mutual respect for all communities under India’s constitutional guarantee of religious freedom.
The BJP demanded that police act impartially, stop lodging false complaints, and ensure peace and communal harmony during Bakrid. The party said it would continue to support go rakshaks and go sevaks and defend Hindu sentiments.
