BJP Seeks Probe Into Dharani, Bhu Bharati And 22-A Land Issues
Reddy demanded that the forensic audit report be released and that a CBI investigation be ordered into land record changes, suspicious transfers and encroachments.
Hyderabad:BJP Legislative Party leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy has demanded a probe into alleged irregularities in the Dharani and Bhu Bharati land record portals, the Section 22-A prohibited land list, and encroachment of government land.
Giving a PowerPoint presentation on land under Section 22-A, in the presence of state party president N Ramchander Rao, party MLAs and senior leaders, Maheshwar Reddy said the BJP had studied about 200 case studies relating to Dharani and Bhu Bharati. He alleged that the issue was not ordinary corruption but one of the biggest land scams in the State’s history.
Maheshwar Reddy said the BJP had first demanded a forensic audit of the Dharani portal. He alleged that the revenue minister had himself admitted that serious facts had come out in the audit, but the report had not been made public. He questioned why an SIT was replaced and asked whether the move was made to delay the investigation.
He also questioned why the Congress government, which had earlier alleged that lakhs of crores were looted through Dharani, had not taken back even one acre of land or registered a case after coming to power.
Maheshwar Reddy said private properties, including buildings and layouts with valid permissions, were being wrongly included in the 22-A prohibited list. He said landowners were forced to make rounds of SRO and MRO offices for months to get their lands removed. He alleged that middlemen were misusing the confusion to collect commissions.
Referring to government figures, he said the 22-A prohibited list had 98,56,838 acres on December 7, 2023, and 98,31,320 acres on August 31, 2026 — a reduction of only 25,518 acres. He said there was a difference of 23,79,781 acres between the 66,33,313 acres of forest land mentioned earlier and the 42,53,532 acres disclosed by the revenue minister in the Assembly. He also sought clarity from the government on the 5,12,792 acres of endowment and Waqf land stated by the minister, and on media reports mentioning 1.79 lakh acres of Waqf land. Similarly, he demanded that the figures relating to 24,63,940 acres of assigned land be disclosed transparently. He demanded an explanation for the change.
Reddy demanded that the forensic audit report be released and that a CBI investigation be ordered into land record changes, suspicious transfers and encroachments. He said the BJP would continue its fight until the truth came out and action was taken against those responsible.
