ADILABAD:The BJP Mahila Morcha has launched a campaign promoting cooking without LPG gas and edible oil, citing the need to conserve foreign exchange and encourage healthier food habits.

The initiative, described as “flameless” or “fireless” cooking, is being carried out at multiple locations by Mahila Morcha members. The programmes aim to raise awareness about preparing food without using LPG gas and edible oil and its perceived health benefits.

The events are being organised as part of the BJP government’s 12 years in office and in the context of concerns over foreign exchange reserves and imports of LPG and edible oils.

At an event held in Sirsilk Colony in Kagaznagar town of Komaram Bheem Asifabad district, women participated in competitions preparing food without gas or oil. Participants displayed dishes made using sprouts, salads, chia seeds, fruits and vegetables. Some also highlighted the consumption of certain leafy vegetables without cooking.

Sirpur (T) MLA Palvai Harish Babu, who attended the event, said women could contribute to the country by reducing the use of LPG gas and edible oil in kitchens. He said imports of LPG and edible oils were impacting foreign exchange reserves and urged people to adopt alternative cooking practices.

Cooking expert Swathy from Kagaznagar said food without LPG gas and edible oil could be prepared easily and offered to train interested people.

Mahila Morcha vice-president of Khammam Pammi Anitha said such practices were being promoted as part of healthy food habits for future generations.

State Mahila Morcha president Mekala Shilpa Reddy said the competitions were intended to create awareness about conserving LPG gas and edible oil while promoting healthier eating practices.
