BJP Accuses Rahul of Politicising Students’ Exam Anxiety
He blamed past Congress governments for longstanding problems in the education sector
HYDERABAD: The BJP accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of politicising the genuine anxieties of students instead of offering practical solutions for the smooth conduct of competitive exams, including NEET. The party said examinations and related challenges should not be used for political gains.
In a statement, BJP chief spokesperson N.V. Subhash urged Gandhi to propose constructive measures rather than creating “panic, anxiety and despair” among aspirants for NEET and other exams. He blamed past Congress governments for longstanding problems in the education sector, including opacity, corruption and the growth of coaching mafias.
Highlighting the Modi government’s steps, Subhash said the administration has acknowledged the seriousness of paper leaks and introduced stronger measures, including the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, tougher penalties for leak networks, empowered investigative agencies and technology-driven reforms. “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there is zero tolerance for examination fraud,” he said.
Subhash charged Rahul Gandhi with making photo-op visits to Kota and contrasted this with the BJP’s focus on systemic reforms, pointing to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 as a transformational reform.
