Hyderabad: The state government will formally launch the redevelopment and expansion works of the famed Bhadrachalam Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy temple on June 27. The project is being taken up with an allocation of ₹351 crore announced by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy during his visit to the temple for Sri Rama Navami celebrations two months ago.

Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy chaired a review meeting at Secretariat on Thursday with officials of the endowments department and the Bhadrachalam temple administration on launching renovation works. He said all development works should be undertaken in strict adherence to Agama Shastra principles and in accordance with the sentiments and beliefs of devotees.

Srinivas Reddy directed officials to ensure that the temple’s spiritual significance, heritage and grandeur remain intact during the redevelopment process. He stressed the need to give priority to stone structures and traditional architectural styles that reflect the temple’s rich cultural and religious legacy.

The minister said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had envisioned a comprehensive development plan that would cater to the needs of devotees for the next two centuries while preserving the temple’s historic and spiritual character for future generations.

The minister also directed authorities to divide the works into multiple components and execute them simultaneously so that the key projects could be completed on a war footing before the next Sri Rama Navami celebrations in April 2027.
