Arrest BRS MLC, Punish Errant Cops: Bandi Sanjay

Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Tuesday demanded action against BRS MLC Tata Madhusudhan for his derogatory remarks against Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, while also calling for action against police personnel accused of behaving high-handedly with BRS women MLAs Sabitha Indra Reddy and Sunitha Laxma Reddy.

Speaking to mediapersons, Sanjay said democratic-minded people could not tolerate the use of abusive language by political leaders. He demanded that Madhusudhan, along with BRS leaders who manhandled police personnel, be arrested and sent to jail, and said action should be taken in accordance with law.

He accused both the Congress and BRS of engaging in political diversion and using “street language” while public issues remained unresolved. He said people were suffering due to the controversy over Section 22A lands, alleged large-scale land dealings involving ministers and ruling party leaders, and pending fee reimbursement dues and certificates, which he said were causing hardship to lakhs of students.

Taking a dig at BRS president and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, Sanjay described the alleged murder attempt against him at his farmhouse on Tuesday as a “big joke” and said Rao was confined to his famhouse. In a satirical remark, he suggested that Assembly sessions be held at Erravelli, where Rao could be made to attend.

Sanjay alleged that the BRS, when in power, and the Congress, currently in government, were encouraging a culture of intimidating people through the police. He accused the two parties of working together to “loot” the people and preventing public issues from being discussed in the Assembly.

He urged both parties to stop their “dramas” and focus on discussing public problems in the Assembly and finding solutions. He said people were closely watching the political dramas, corruption and irregularities of both the Congress and BRS. Sanjay asserted that the BJP alone would come to power in Telangana and claimed that development was possible only through a “double-engine government”. He said that BJP members were not being given adequate opportunities to speak in the Assembly.
