Adilabad: Alumni of the Social Welfare Residential School for boys of Sirpur (T) have been agitating, demanding that the state government construct the Young India Integrated Residential School in the same place where the building of the school was in dilapidated condition. The alumni said the Social Welfare Residential School of Sirpur (T) was shifted to another place and is now being run in a private building in Kagaznagar mandal.

The alumni student said the social welfare residential school served hundreds of students from the interior areas in the Sirpur (T) Assembly constituency in the Komaram Bheem Asifabad district.

Alumni student Kota Anand of the Social Welfare Residential School said the building was in dilapidated condition and posed a threat to the students and added that there are 70 acres to take up the construction of the Young India Integrated Residential School on the same premises.

Alumni said students who studied at the institute got admission to reputed universities, and many became doctors, engineers, and civil servants.

The alumni students alleged that the officials shifted the students of the Social Welfare Residential School to other institutions, and the institution remained closed due to its bad condition, and local students are facing hardships due to the lack of an education institution in the Sirpur (T) headquarters.

Nearly 100 alumni students staged a peaceful protest in Sirpur (T), demanding that the state government construct the Young India Integrated Residential School, and submitted a memorandum to the tahasildar on the issue on October 17.
