ABVP Protest Over Fee Reimbursement Turns Tense; 26 Activists Detained

Tension prevailed at the Warangal collectorate on Monday after members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest demanding the release of pending fee reimbursement dues and scholarships.

ABVP activists organised a rally from Kakatiya University Crossroads to the collectorate via Ambedkar Chowk, alleging that delays in releasing fee reimbursement amounts were causing financial hardship to students from economically weaker sections.

The situation turned tense when the protesters attempted to stage a dharna outside the collectorate. Police stopped them from proceeding, leading to a brief scuffle. Police detained 26 ABVP activists and shifted them to a police station.

Addressing the protesters, ABVP state secretary Macherla Rambabu alleged that lakhs of students across Telangana depended on the fee reimbursement scheme to pursue higher education. He claimed that the delay in clearing pending dues had prevented many students from obtaining certificates from their colleges and forced some to discontinue their studies.

ABVP leaders condemned the police action, stating that the protest was peaceful and intended to highlight students' grievances. They demanded the immediate release of pending fee reimbursement dues and scholarships and warned of intensified protests if the government failed to address the issue.
