The school education department and Samagra Shiksha have directed officials to make Aadhaar enrolment and biometric update services available at mandal educational officer (MEO) offices and junior colleges during the Dasara holidays. The facilities are meant for students and the general public, with strict instructions against excess charges.

The arrangement covers the holidays beginning October 12, according to Samagra Shiksha state project director Dr E. Naveen Nicolas. Children without Aadhaar numbers can register at the camps, while students with pending mandatory biometric updates (MBU) can get them completed. Other applicable Aadhaar services will also be available to the public, subject to UIDAI guidelines.

MEOs have been instructed to inform headmasters about camp schedules and venues. Headmasters must then pass these details to students and parents or guardians, particularly those whose biometric updates are pending, and encourage them to use the facilities. The department has prohibited unauthorised charges. Fees must follow UIDAI-prescribed rates, and services exempted from charges must be provided free of cost.
