Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) Yesso Naik said that the state implementing agencies (SIAs) have reported that the Model Solar Villages (MSVs) have been declared for 477 districts across the country, including 30 districts from Telangana.
Based on detailed project reports (DPRs) submitted by the SIA of Telangana for development of the MSVs in the state, DPRs for seven declared villages have been sanctioned by MNRE with the Central Financial Assistance (CFA) of Rs 1 crore for each village including to support rooftop solar adoption and related infrastructure and promote community level livelihood opportunities.
Awareness programmes are being conducted by the SIA of the Telangana at the district and village levels in coordination with Rural Electrification Corporation Limited, which is the National Programme Implementing Agency (NPIA) for the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY) to promote community participation and ensuring that the MSV initiative contributes to rural livelihoods, clean energy adoption and sustainable development.
One of the components of PMSG: MBY is development of MSV, one in each district, with central financial assistance CFA upto Rs. 1 crore per village. The MNRE has issued operational guidelines providing criteria and parameters for the selection of the MSVs.
