2 teenage girls die in separate road mishaps in Hyderabad

Kukatpally police are on the lookout for the unidentified four-wheeler driver while Shamirpet police charged the driver with negligence.

Hyderabad: Two teenage girls succumbed to road mishaps in separate incidents in the city. While one was not wearing a helmet, the other, who was waiting for a bus, was hit by a concrete mixer vehicle driver.

Kukatpally police are on the lookout for the unidentified four-wheeler driver while Shamirpet police charged the driver with negligence.

The deceased, Mamatha, 18, is a native of Andhra Pradesh. She lived with her mother at Mosapet area. While she worked as a sales member at a godown, her mother made a living by working as a domestic help. She was out with friends and asked one of them to drop her at her friend’s place.

The duo on a Scooty were heading towards Kukatpally and were near pillar number 18 when an unidentified car hit the Scooty from the rear. Both the driver and the pillion were not wearing helmets. They fell off the vehicle and suffered severe injuries.

Mamatha died on the spot while her friend suffered injuries. Meanwhile, the police registered a complaint and are analyzing the CCTV footage to identify the accused.

The cameras followed him till Miyapur and then lost him. Police are on the lookout for the driver who was reportedly overspeeding when the accident occurred. Meanwhile, the body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital from where it will be handed over to her family after postmortem.

In another incident in Shamirpet, two cousins who were heading to work suffered injuries in an accident. A 19-year-old girl died while the other remained serious.

The deceased, K. Bhavani, 19, along with her cousin K. Gayatri, 24, were going to work in Trimulgherry and were waiting for a bus at Bits Pilani junction.

Meanwhile, the concrete mixer vehicle coming from Keesara hit the two cousins. The duo suffered severe injuries and the locals moved them to the hospital. While the duo were undergoing treatment, Gayatri died on Wednesday morning.
