15 Gates Of Taliperu Project Lifted In BK District

Irrigation officials lifted 15 gates of the Taliperu project at Cherla in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district and released 65,000 cusecs of water into the Godavari River.

Following rains, water from the Chinthalavagu, Rallavagu and Pagidivagu resulted in heavy inflows into the medium irrigation project. Officials of the Irrigation department decided to lift the gates of the project when the water level in the reservoir reached 73.16 metres as against full reservoir level of 74 metres.

In Khammam district, water is being released from the Palair reservoir to the downstream irrigation tanks. District collector Diwakar T.S., who visited the Palair reservoir on Friday, said water is being directed to irrigation tanks through the Sagar left canal, Palair old canal, Bhaktha Ramadasu, Manchukonda and other lift irrigation schemes.

The collector said officials of all the departments are on high alert owing to the cyclone.

Water level in the Godavari River at Bhadrachalam Bridge is at 20.2 feet, with the discharge of water being 1,82,926 cusecs.
