Hyderabad: In a decoy operation, the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (Eagle) on Friday arrested 14 individuals — including IT sector employees and students — for purchasing ganja. All tested positive for drug consumption, officials said.
The arrested include an online trader, a dental technician, a business relationship manager, an advertising agency staffer, a sales executive and a man identified as Sai Raj.
Officials said drug tests were also conducted on several users arrested earlier. These included an event manager, marketing executive, IT professional, consultant, software engineer, HR manager and a duty medical officer.

Builder dies by suicide amid financial stress

A 47-year-old construction builder, Marri Venkateshwarlu, died by suicide at a plot in Sai Priyanagar Colony, Injapur, Vanasthalipuram police said on Wednesday.

Inspector T. Mahesh said the suicide came to light when Venkateshwarlu’s family members were unable to reach him over the phone throughout the day. His brother contacted another sibling, Yadaiah, asking him to check on Venkateshwarlu. When the latter visited his residence, the family learned that he had left home after lunch and had not returned.

Subsequently, Yadaiah contacted his brother’s supervisor, who informed him that Venkateshwarlu was found dead at a construction site. Preliminary inquiry suggests financial pressure could have pushed him to take the step. Preliminary investigation suggests financial pressure may have driven him to take the extreme step.
