116-Year-Old Woman Walks to Tirumala; TTD Chairman Announces VIP Darshan
Navaneethamma’s devotion goes viral; special darshan arranged for her family on Monday
Tirumala: A 116-year-old devotee, Navaneethamma, who walked all the way to Tirumala for the darshan of Lord Venkateswara, has drawn widespread attention, prompting Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman B.R. Naidu to announce a special VIP break darshan for her and her family.
Responding to the viral video of the elderly woman’s trekking to Tirumala on social media platform ‘X’, Naidu said her unwavering devotion at such an advanced age is truly inspiring. He expressed happiness at getting the opportunity to facilitate her darshan and prayed for her health and longevity.
Navaneethamma reached Tirumala on Saturday via the Alipiri footpath. Initially, her identity was unclear, with some reports suggesting she was from Karnataka. However, after the chairman sought details publicly, TTD vigilance officials traced her background and confirmed that she hails from Tamil Nadu and is currently staying with relatives in Jeevakona, Tirupati.
Following this, the TTD chairman announced that Navaneethamma and her family members would be provided VIP break darshan on Monday morning.
