100 Mini-Buses Will Be Added to RTC’s Fleet To Increase Connectivity in City: Ponnam
The minister said bus services suspended during the Covic-19 pandemic were being restored based on requirements.
Hyderabad: The TGSRTC will get about 100-mini buses in the capital region, with 50 to be allocated to the Old City and the remaining to connect with MMTS and Metro Rail stations. The buses will be replacing older vehicles.
So far, the RTC has purchased 2,932 buses and was phasing out buses that have exceeded 15 years of service. Another 340 diesel buses had been retrofitted as electric buses and 2,200 electric buses will be introduced in Hyderabad under the PM E-Drive scheme. During Question Hour in the Assembly on Thursday, transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar said CCTV cameras had been installed as a security measure in the RTC’s premium buses and electric buses. On the Mahalakshmi scheme for free travel for women, the minister said the RTC had issued over 347 crore zero tickets, saving families a total of Rs 12,171 crore.
