Thanjavur: The Thanjavur police conducted an enquiry with Udhayanidhi Stalin, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, regarding his controversial speech at an agitation of farmers at Thanjavur on the Cauvery issue on Monday, at Sengipatti police station, 20 km from Thanjavur, on Tuesday evening.
Udhayanidhi alighted from the police van and went inside the police station for enquiry at 6.45 pm. In a day of high drama, the police changed their plan to bring Udhayanidhi to Thanjavur south police station, apparently because of the huge crowd of DMK cadre and tense situation that prevailed near the police station, and took him to Sengipatti police station for enquiry.
