Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Udhyanidhi Stalin urged Central investigation agencies to probe the link between BLM Credit Society Chairman R Premkumar, who was taken into custody from his Chennai residence by the crime branch of the Kerala police on Thursday, and Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay.

In his X message, Udhayanidhi Stalin said that Premkumar, who had been accused of diverting funds from the credit society to his personal accounts, met Vijay in July and had been providing buses to the TVK for transporting its MLAs to the Assembly. When the vote on the no-confidence motion was taken, it was in Premkumar’s buses the MLAs were taken to the Assembly, he said.

For many other TVK events, too, Premkumar’s buses had been used, he said and alleged that the photographs he had taken with Vijay were being deleted with the help of police from websites, he said.

The BLM Society (Bharath Lajhna Multi State Housing Cooperative Society) is headquartered in Chennai and the case that the Kerala police is investigating relates to alleged diversion of the society’s funds for private purposes like purchase of resorts theatres and hotels in Chennai and Kerala.

Since Premkumar complained of physical discomfort after his arrest by Kerala police, he was admitted to a hospital in Chennai and is likely to be shifted to Kozhikode after a medical assessment.

The case against him was registered at the Nadakkavu police station in Kerala after a Kozhikode resident filed a complaint of financial irregularities in the society.
