Thanjavur:Representatives of the CPI(M), CPI, DMK, Congress and the TVK walked out of the meeting called by Thanjavur Collector R. Revathi for restructuring polling booths as part of Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls here on Monday.

P. Senthil Kumar, district executive committee member of CPI(M), later told presspersons that the representatives of above political parties walked out of the meeting demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar, Chief Election Commissioner, owning responsibility for large-scale deletion of voters from electoral rolls under SIR.

''We believe that the fake election conducted by Gyanesh Kumar helped BJP to come to power. We also believe that the present activities of the Election Commission of India are against democracy. So we walked out. Our representatives walked out from the meetings conducted by ECI throughout the state," said Senthilkumar.

L.G. Anna, district treasurer of DMK, Muthukumar, city secretary of CPI, Mahendran, district president of Congress, and Sridevi of TVK walked out of the meeting.
