Dindigul: The Dindigul district crime branch have arrested three persons, including a woman, for allegedly cheating more than 15,000 investors of over Rs 30 crore through an online investment app.
According to police, the accused lured people with a promise of doubling an investment of Rs 50,000 within a short period. They allegedly created fake accounts, showed digital currency credits and displayed fabricated account details to make investors believe that their investments were generating returns.
However, when investors tried to withdraw their money, the funds were not credited to their accounts. The app was subsequently shut down, leaving the investors unable to access their money.
