Chennai:Assuring a quick remedy to the grievances of the employees of TASMAC, State Minister for Prohibition and Excise K Vignesh appealed to the striking workers in Erode, Salem, Namakkal, Tiruppur, Krishngiri, and Dharmapuri districts, where the State-owned liquor shops did not open on Tuesday, to return to work.

The Minister, in a press release on Tuesday said the government would appoint an external agency to collect the used empty bottles, which has now become the bone of contention between the TASMAC management and the employees.

The scheme to take back the empty bottles was launched on the basis of a Madras High Court order though the employees had been opposing its implementation. Now the TASMAC management would file an affidavit in court that it would engage an external agency to do the procurement of the empty bottles, the Minister said.

He urged the striking employees to return to work honouring the judgment of the High Court and assured them of addressing their grievances by the end of June.
