Key Accused in Scam Impersonating CM Vijay Nabbed in Rajasthan

The man Shyabu Khan living in Lachhmangarh in Alwar in Rajasthan along with other scammers used AI-generated videos to defraud multiple people across Madhya Pradesh and other States where Vijay is popular. His mobile phones, SIM cards, CPU used in the commission of offence were also seized.

During the regular cyber patrolling, the Cyber Crime team of CB-CID came across AI generated deep fake videos with Hindi audio impersonating the Chief Minister on Facebook. They were created and circulated on Facebook and other social media platforms with an intention to cheat innocent people.

In the videos, the general public were asked to contact a WhatsApp number for any financial help. Cases were filed and taken up for investigation immediately.

Apart from taking down these deep fake AI videos, CBCID obtained data from the intermediaries and service providers, carried out in-depth analysis of the digital trails and mapped out the suspect's movements in the hinterlands of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Subsequently, an operation was planned by senior officers of CBCID, through several technical analysis and inter-state police coordination. Two special teams were sent to Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to track down the accused.

After an intensive search, with the assistance of Rajasthan Police, Shyabu Khan was arrested. The accused has been brought back to Tamil Nadu on transit warrant from Rajasthan and remanded to judicial custody.
