KARUR: The Karur district administration has fixed Rs. 16,023.68 crore as priority loan target for 2026-2027, according to Collector C. Muthukumaran.

The Collector released the current financial year’s priority sector loan project report at the bankers meeting at Karur on Tuesday. It was received by IOB Tiruppur region’s chief regional manager S.V.P. Sankar.

The Collector said a target of Rs. 16,023.68 crore for the current financial year will be achieved through lending by nationalised, private and cooperative banks.

Of this target, Rs. 9,847.38 crore was meant for agriculture and its related departments, representing 61 per cent, Rs. 584.56 crore has been allocated to other priority sector loans, and 35 per cent loan was marked for small, medium and micro industries.

Muthukumaran said the priority sector loan amount was increased by Rs. 3,257.08 crore this financial year, and appealed to the bank authorities to achieve the target in total like the last financial year.
