Global Majors Deepen Investments In Tamil Nadu
Daimler, Saint-Gobain, YKK, Ascendas Firstspace and Super Micro Computer announce fresh projects across the state
Several global manufacturing majors have announced fresh investments in Tamil Nadu at the Vetri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2026, signalling continued confidence in the state as a manufacturing and industrial hub.
Germany’s Daimler India Commercial Vehicles will invest Rs. 4,000 crore to expand its 400-acre facility at Oragadam, covering commercial vehicle design, research and development and manufacturing.
France-based Saint-Gobain, one of the world’s leading glass manufacturers, has committed Rs. 2,000 crore for a new greenfield plant at Krishnagiri and expansion of its existing operations in Kanchipuram.
Japanese multinational YKK, the world’s largest manufacturer of zippers and fastening products, will invest Rs. 1,651 crore in Tiruvallur, creating an estimated 4,316 jobs.
Singapore-based Ascendas Firstspace will develop a Rs. 1,000-crore industrial park in Tiruvallur, described as its largest footprint in India.
US-based Super Micro Computer will also establish server assembly operations in Chennai.
The fresh investments are significant as several of the companies are already established in Tamil Nadu, with their expansion plans indicating the increasing role of the state in their long-term India and global manufacturing strategies.
The investments also reinforce Tamil Nadu’s established strengths in automotive manufacturing, engineering and electronics while expanding its industrial footprint into advanced manufacturing and data infrastructure.
