Kerala CM Satheesan Slams BJP; Calls Stage ‘Purification’ Against Kharge Shameful, Undemocratic
The Chief Minister noted that the sacrifices and struggles of the Dalit community played a vital role in shaping our nation and democracy: Reports
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan called the act of BJP workers performing a ‘Homa’ ritual to “purify” a stage shared with AICC President and Rajya Sabha Opposition Leader Mallikarjun Kharge both deplorable and shameful.
In a statement, he pointed out that the incident in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, was a clear violation of democratic principles and the constitutional guarantee of equality. Kharge had earlier remarked that the stage was purified solely because he is from the Dalit community and demanded that those responsible face legal action.
The Chief Minister noted that the sacrifices and struggles of the Dalit community played a vital role in shaping our nation and democracy. He stressed that attempts by the BJP and the Sangh Parivar to rewrite history cannot diminish these contributions.
In his statement, he called for strict legal action against those responsible and urged people to unite against caste-based discrimination and unfair practices.
