Two Killed in Helium Cylinder Explosion at Mysore Palace Gate
Police said a person was engaged in selling balloons on a bicycle using helium gas, and the cylinder exploded, resulting in the tragedy and people around him were injured

BENGALURU: Two people were killed on the spot after a gas cylinder containing helium to inflate balloons exploded at Jayamarthanda Gate of Mysore Palace in Mysuru city on Thursday at around 8.30 pm. In the helium gas cylinder explosion, four people sustained injuries, and the condition of one of the injured is said to be serious.
The injured were rushed to a hospital in Mysuru city. However, the identities of the deceased were not immediately established by the police.
The injured have been identified as Manjula, a resident of Nanjangud in Mysuru district, Lakshmi, belonging to Bengaluru, Shabbi,r a native of Kolkata and Kotesh, a resident of Ranebennur of Haveri district.
Police said a person was engaged in selling balloons on a bicycle using helium gas, and the cylinder exploded, resulting in the tragedy and people around him were injured. Owing to the explosion, the bodies of the deceased were strewn around the spot of the incident. There was a large congregation of people at the Mysuru Palace to visit the flower show in its premises, organised by Palace Board officials.
Devaraja police visited the spot while forensic science experts were pressed into service to gather details on the explosion. Commissioner of Police Seema Latkar told reporters that investigations are underway.
