BENGALURU----:Police took a 29-year-old person identified as Gautham into their custody on charge of stabbing a transgender person leading to the death outside Kempegowda Bus Station in Bengaluru city in the early hours between 2.30 am to 3 am on Saturday. The deceased is identified as Devi.

As per Upparpet police, Gautham assaulted Devi outside the Bus Station and snatched her purse and mobile before he fled from the scene on a two-wheeler. The victim succumbed to the injuries later. Police swung into action and tracked down Gautham, a resident of Ramamurthy Nagar of Bengaluru.

During his questioning, the accused person reportedly confessed to the police that he was under the influence of alcohol when he attacked the transgender person in an attempted robbery. The transgender person is said to have refused to the demand of Gautham and resisted his attack, but an enraged Gautham is alleged to have stabbed her with a dagger a couple of times. The assault on the transgender made her collapse while Gautham escaped with the purse and mobile phone of the victim.

A friend of the victim was in the vicinity and came across ther gruesome incident and filed a complaint with the Upparpet police. Police took up the investigation based on the complaint and tracked down the accused person.
