MANGALURU: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) rescued a nine-year-old boy from Mangaluru Central railway station after a staff member spotted him behaving suspiciously on CCTV footage on Saturday morning.
The boy was noticed by RPF personnel Vinisha at 9.49 am while she was monitoring the station’s CCTV cameras. The personnel acted promptly and took the boy to safety.
During a preliminary inquiry, the boy was found to be a resident of West Bengal who had left home and travelled on the Santragachi Express (Train No. 22851).
The RPF later handed him over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in Mangaluru for further care, protection and rehabilitation, as per the prescribed procedure.
The rescue was carried out under Operation Nanhe Farishte, an initiative under which the RPF identifies and rescues missing children, those who have run away from home and children found in vulnerable situations at railway stations.
