MLA Shivannavar Wants Ministerial Berth, Not Corporation Post
“I have already served as the Chairman of the Corporation for two and half years. Let somebody else get the chance. If I am given a ministerial position, I will accept it
Haveri: Byadagi MLA Basavaraj has decided to resign as chairman of the Karnataka Forest Development Corporation, saying he would accept the post only if he is given a ministerial berth and would otherwise continue as an MLA.
“I have already served as the Chairman of the Corporation for two and half years. Let somebody else get the chance. If I am given a ministerial position, I will accept it. I am not worried if I do not get a ministerial position. I will remain an MLA and work in my constituency. I do not want any other Corporation or Board,” he said.
When asked who were behind his name being dropped from the cabinet at the last moment, Shivannavar said that he would speak about it sometimes later.
He also stated that former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had strongly favored him becoming the minister. “He had proposed my name strongly as I am from North Karnataka and have won election several times,” Shivannavar said.
“The Chief Minister had asked me not to resign, saying the party was considering his case and that “things will work out,” he added.
