Mangaluru: 16 Cattle Seized In Uppinangady, Two Booked For Illegal Transport

MANGALURU: Uppinangady police have registered a case against two persons for allegedly transporting 16 cattle without valid documents and in violation of cattle transportation norms, police said on Saturday.
The accused have been identified as Pardeen Khan (24), a resident of Kadur, and Javeed Pasha (34) of Holenarasipura in Hassan district.
According to police, Sub-Inspector Suthesh KP and his team intercepted an Eicher lorry at Anebailu in Uppinangady on June 17 morning.
During inspection, police found 16 cattle being transported in the vehicle. When questioned, the occupants of the lorry allegedly failed to produce the required documents for transporting the animals.
The police then seized the cattle and the vehicle.
A case has been registered at Uppinangady police station under relevant provisions of the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020, the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
