Koppal: Six Killed As Lorry Rams Tractor On NH-50

Koppal: Six persons, including a one-year-old child, were killed in a major road accident on NH-50 near the Koppal–Vijayanagar border on Friday.
The incident occurred after a lorry rammed into a tractor from behind, causing it to plunge off a bridge into a gorge.
About ten others sustained injuries in the accident and are undergoing treatment at hospitals in Koppal district and Hosapete of Vijayanagara district. Two of the injured are said to be in critical condition.
The deceased have been identified as Kenchappa (45), Mahantesh (18), Bharath (1), Gowramma (42), Huligetha (22), and Manyamma (39). All of them were residents of villages around Kudligi.
According to preliminary information, the accident occurred when the speeding lorry hit the tractor from behind, leading to the tractor losing balance and falling off the bridge into the gorge.
Police and rescue personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies and injured persons to nearby hospitals. Authorities cleared the vehicles from the highway and restored traffic movement on the stretch.
A case is registered at Munirabad Police Station.
