Karnataka: Man Absconding For 36 Years Arrested By Karkala Town Police

UDUPI: A man who had allegedly been absconding for nearly 36 years was arrested by the Karkala Town Police. The local court has remanded him to judicial custody.
The accused, identified as Peter Augustine Martis (60), a resident of Ramasamudra in Karkala Kasaba village, was wanted in connection with a crime registered under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including unlawful assembly, rioting and criminal trespass. A long-pending warrant in the case was also pending against him.
Acting on the directions of Karkala sub division Deputy Superintendent of Police and under the supervision of the Karkala Circle Inspector and the Inspector of Udupi Women Police Station, a police team traced the accused near Ramasamudra in Karkala taluk on Monday.
The operation was carried out by the Sub-Inspector of Karkala Town Police Station along with Head Constables Lokesh and Sanjay.
Following his arrest, Peter Augustine Martis was produced before the Principal Civil Judge (Junior Division) and JMFC Court in Karkala, which remanded him to judicial custody.
