HAVERI: A NEET aspirant from Hangal in Haveri district has alleged that the OMR answer sheet uploaded by the National Testing Agency (NTA) shows she answered only 41 questions, whereas she had attempted 165 of the 180 questions in the examination. Seeking verification of the records, she has demanded that the NTA provide her original OMR sheet.
The student, Bindushree Jagadish Pawar, appeared for the NEET-UG examination at the Government First Grade College examination centre in Haveri city. She said she downloaded the scanned OMR sheet uploaded by the NTA on July 16 and found what she described as major discrepancies.
“The OMR sheet uploaded online shows that I have attended only 41 questions. But in reality, I have attempted 165 questions out of 180 questions, which gives me 668 marks as per the final answer key. They have shown that I have attempted 41 questions, and a minus 11 results has been declared. There are many loopholes in the OMR sheet,” she added.
It is said that the timings reflected in the OMR records do not tally with the time the student spent at the examination centre. Also, the thumb impression on the uploaded sheet appears to overlap.
"I do not know how I should fight this. My only request is that the authorities provide me with my original OMR sheet," Bindushri said.
Family members said that she had consistently performed well in academics, securing 98 per cent in SSLC and 95 per cent in the II PUC examination, and had prepared extensively for NEET.
Her father, Jagadish Pawar, also questioned the uploaded OMR sheet.
"My daughter is a bright student. The OMR sheet uploaded online does not appear to be hers. The concerned authorities should verify the records thoroughly and bring out the truth," he said.
The family had contacted the NTA and its helpline but had not received any response. They later approached the district administration, which forwarded their representation to the NTA through email. An answer is awaited.
