KOPPAL: Koppal Rural Police have registered a case against several leaders and others for allegedly trespassing into the premises of the Baldota Steel and Power Limited (BSPL) plant, damaging its compound wall and main gate, assaulting security personnel and threatening them during a protest.
The incident occurred on Tuesday. Based on the complaint filed by the Plant Security Manager of the plant, an FIR was registered on Wednesday at Koppal Rural Police Station.
The complainant stated that a public meeting was organised on Tuesday in front of the BSPL factory gate by Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, Jilla Andolana Samiti and Parisara Hitarakshana Vedike to mark the 46th Farmers' Martyrs' Day.
He alleged that some of the speakers made provocative speeches against the company and called upon those gathered to reclaim the lake. Following the meeting, a section of the protesters allegedly blocked vehicles entering the factory and marched towards the premises.
According to the FIR, the protesters allegedly broke a portion of the compound wall, trespassed into the factory and assaulted security personnel who tried to prevent them from entering.
The complaint further alleged that the guards were abused, threatened with dire consequences and pushed aside before the group proceeded towards the lake within the factory premises.
While returning, they allegedly uprooted the factory's iron main gate, causing damage to the property.
The FIR names Yamanurappa Halahalli, Mookappa N Mestri, Bhimasen Kalikeri, Mallikarjun Gonal, Allamaprabhu Bettadoor, Manglesh Rathod and several others. The case has been registered under BNS Sections 189(2), 191(2), 126(2), 115(2), 352, 351(2), 324(1), 324(4), 329(3), 54 read with Section 19
