The Union Minister wants discussion to be postponed by a day citing his prior commitments on Friday.
BENGALURU: Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Monday invited Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy for a discussion on Bidadi Township Project on Friday at 11 am at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru while Kumaraswamy wanted Shivakumar to fix the venue at Bidadi or at Byramangala, a village affected by the Project, as an appropriate location for holding a discussion to resolve the problems of the affected parties by the proposed Project. The Union Minister wants discussion to be postponed by a day citing his prior commitments on Friday.
Shivakumar and Kumaraswamy are at loggerheads over the proposed Bidadi Township Project in Bengaluru South district. While Shivakumar is firm on the Bidadi Township Project in his naïve district citing that the Project, a brainchild of Kumaraswamy when he was the Chief Minister in 2007, Kumaraswamy wanted the Project to be scrapped in the interest of farmers.
Citing his prior commitments on the said date, the Union Minister appealed to Shivakumar to fix the discussion date on Saturday and stated “a meeting without affected farmers, villages and all stakeholders would serve no purpose at all.”
Earlier in a letter to Kumaraswamy, Shivakumar stated he is very much interested in holding a discussion on Bidadi Township Project with him and asked Kumaraswamy to attend the discussion with his selected team members comprising 5.
Opposing the project, Kumaraswamy made it clear to Shivakumar to shelve the Project in the interest of Project and reminded him of his opposition on the floor of Assembly in 2007 over Bidadi Township Project which spans across 7, 481 acres between Bidadi and Harohalli. Kumaraswamy told Shivakumar that he has no personal interest in the project.
Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar questioned Kumaraswamy “What made Kumaraswamy declare Bidadi region as a Red Zone? and sought an answer from the Union Minister over it. Shivakumar stated he will go by the law in acquiring lands for the Project.
