Case Filed Against LPG Distributor After Inspection Finds Weight Shortage

The officials of the department, along with the Legal Metrology Department, inspected LPG cylinders at a local HP Gas agency following complaints and social media reports alleging that consumers were receiving cylinders with significantly less gas than prescribed.

Kalaburagi: Authorities have booked an LPG distributor in Kalaburagi for allegedly supplying underweight LPG cylinders to consumers.
The action followed the circulation of videos on social media claiming that LPG cylinders supplied in the district were short by as much as 2 to 3 kilograms. Taking note of the allegations, the DC had ordered a verification.
The officials of the department, along with the Legal Metrology Department, inspected LPG cylinders at a local HP Gas agency following complaints and social media reports alleging that consumers were receiving cylinders with significantly less gas than prescribed.
During the process, when eight cylinders were checked, it was found that the cylinders were short by around 300 to 400 grams. Based on the findings, a case was registered against the distributor, officials said.
Officials have urged consumers to report any instances of LPG cylinders being supplied with less-than-prescribed weight. The department said appropriate action would be taken against distributors found violating prescribed norms.
