Bagalkot: Lightning Strike Kills Two, Injures Six
Two others- Nagavva Parasappa Kandekar and Savantaravva Yallappa Kandekar, who were also injured in the lightning strike- are undergoing treatment at the Aihole Primary Health Centre.
Bagalkot: Two persons were killed and six others injured after lightning struck at Aihole village in Hunagund taluk of Bagalkot district on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Bharamappa Mallappa Kandekar (24) of Katapur village, and Ramavva (68), of Aihole.
Four of the injured — Muttappa Mallappa Kandekar (70), Jyoti Kalakappa Kandekar (32), Jyoti Sharanappa Kuri (32), and Renavva Hanamant Suttannavar (35) were shifted to Bagalkot District Hospital for further treatment.
Two others- Nagavva Parasappa Kandekar and Savantaravva Yallappa Kandekar, who were also injured in the lightning strike- are undergoing treatment at the Aihole Primary Health Centre.
Deputy Commissioner Sangappa visited the injured admitted to the district hospital and enquired about their health. He also spoke to doctors about their condition and directed them to ensure that the victims received proper treatment and all necessary medical facilities.
Meanwhile, in a separate rain-related incident in Bagalkot town, a 50-year-old man was killed near Rayara Math in Killa Oni. A tree reportedly fell during rain and strong winds, and the man died after coming into contact with an electricity line. The deceased was identified as Hajim Huseinsab Shaikh (50).
