YSRC Alleges Naidu Shielding TD Leaders in Fake Liquor Case
Karumuri alleged that the fake liquor network operating from Molakalacheruvu has generated illegal profits of nearly ₹5,250 crore within a year, with the illicit liquor supplied through belt shops across Andhra Pradesh.
Vijayawada: YSR Congress state spokesperson Karumuri Venkata Reddy on Sunday alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is following the pattern of protecting Telugu Desam individuals facing serious allegations, helping them evade scrutiny, and later facilitating their return after legal hurdles have been managed.
Addressing a press conference at the YSRC central office in Tadepalli, Karumuri cited the case of TD leader Jayachandra Reddy, who is accused in the Molakalacheruvu fake liquor case. He alleged that instead of being arrested, Jayachandra Reddy has been allowed to leave for Africa. The TD leader remained abroad for nearly eight months before obtaining anticipatory bail and returning to Bengaluru.
The YSRC leader claimed that statements from key accused and witnesses had pointed to Jayachandra Reddy’s involvement, but no action has been taken against the TD leader. He further alleged that the leader’s rank in the liquor case has been reduced from A1 to A17.
Karumuri alleged that the fake liquor network operating from Molakalacheruvu has generated illegal profits of nearly ₹5,250 crore within a year, with the illicit liquor supplied through belt shops across Andhra Pradesh. He questioned how such a large-scale operation could function without political support.
Drawing parallels with the Skill Development case, the YSRC leader alleged that the Chief Minister had earlier helped former aide Pendyala Srinivas leave for the United States when notices had been issued against him.
He went on to accuse the government of targeting YSRC leaders while protecting TD functionaries. He charged the ruling coalition of attempting to divert attention from criticism of its “Two Years of Backstabbing” campaign.
