YSRC Alleges Irregularities In SIR Process, Warns Of Legal Action
The leaders criticised the reported participation of minister Ponguru Narayana in meetings with booth level officers (BLOs), claiming it violated election norms and reflected political interference in the revision process.
Nellore: YSRC leaders on Wednesday alleged that the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh was being misused to delete the votes of YSRC supporters and demanded immediate intervention by the Election Commission.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s Nellore district office, district president Kakani Govardhan Reddy and MLC Parvatha Reddy Chandrasekhar Reddy accused the TD-led government of influencing the SIR process through officials. They alleged that repeated complaints to the district administration over irregularities, particularly in Nellore city, had gone unanswered.
The leaders criticised the reported participation of minister Ponguru Narayana in meetings with booth level officers (BLOs), claiming it violated election norms and reflected political interference in the revision process. They also alleged that enumeration forms were being distributed to TDP representatives in violation of prescribed procedures.
Parvatha Reddy accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of "managing institutions" to suppress democratic rights and claimed the SIR exercise was aimed at removing YSRC supporters from the electoral rolls. He warned that if eligible voters were omitted from the draft rolls to be published on July 21, the party would intensify its agitation and pursue legal remedies after approaching the state and central Election Commissions.
The YSRC leaders also alleged large-scale illegal sand mining on the Penna River under the patronage of Minister Narayana's supporters and demanded strict action against those involved.
