YSR Congress MLC Parvatha Reddy Chandrasekhar Reddy— DC File

NELLORE: YSR Congress MLC Parvatha Reddy Chandrasekhar Reddy has accused the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and election officials of attempting to reject the nominations of party candidates Safiya Begum of the 72nd division and Siddiq of the 63rd division in the Nellore Municipal Corporation elections.

Safiya Begum alleged that returning officer Vamsi Krishna rejected her nominations for the 70th, 71st and 72nd divisions during scrutiny on October 19, citing alleged dues linked to a community hall allotted in her name at the TIDCO apartments in Bhagat Singh Colony. She claimed the decision was based on a Municipal Corporation letter issued on October 18 and that she was not asked to explain her position before the rejection.

In Siddiq’s case, Chandrasekhar Reddy alleged that officials attempted to reject his nomination by introducing a case against him overnight. He questioned how the case surfaced during scrutiny when it was not mentioned in the no-objection certificate.

The MLC accused officials of favouring the ruling party and violating election rules. He also alleged that a large police force was deployed and that he was obstructed when he questioned the scrutiny proceedings.

Warning against alleged political vendetta, Chandrasekhar Reddy said the YSRC would not remain silent if minister P. Narayana used officials to target Opposition candidates.

He demanded fairness and transparency in the scrutiny process and urged authorities to address the candidates’ grievances.
