Youth Murdered, Body Dumped In Borewell In Prakasam

A youth was allegedly murdered and his body dumped in a borewell in Yerragondapalem town of Prakasam district, police said on Wednesday.

According to Markapuram DSP U. Nagaraju, the victim, Digudu Anjaneyulu, attended a wedding at Indiramma Colony on May 13 and went missing later that night after returning home.

After searching for him for three days without success, his brother-in-law, Challa Venkata Rao, lodged a missing complaint with police on May 16.

During the investigation, police detained two suspects Avula Venkata Narayana and Avula Ravana near a junction in Yerragondapalem after finding their movements suspicious.

Police said the accused confessed during interrogation. According to investigators, the duo allegedly found Anjaneyulu in a compromising position with their daughter after returning home on the night of May 13. Enraged, they allegedly attacked him with an iron pan, killing him on the spot.

Police said the accused initially hid the body. Later, after foul smell started emanating from the corpse, they allegedly transported it to a remote area, cut the body into pieces and dumped the remains into a borewell in an attempt to destroy evidence.

Police arrested the two accused and launched further investigation into the case.

DSP Nagaraju commended Circle Inspector K. Ajay Kumar and SI Devakumar for swiftly cracking the murder case.

Three held,1,600 kg ganja seized in Kadapa

In a major crackdown on narcotics, police seized a huge quantity of ganja near Nanapalli in Kadapa district on Wednesday morning. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Chinna Chowk police conducted special raids and confiscated around 1,600 kilograms of ganja.

Three persons were arrested in connection with the case. The accused were identified as Madhav of Kamalapuram, Sake Shankar and Manoj Kumar. Police said the trio was allegedly involved in the sale and distribution of the contraband.

A case has been registered against the accused under the provisions of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is under way to ascertain whether more individuals are involved in the racket. Police are also probing whether additional ganja stocks are hidden in other locations.

Officials reiterated that strict action would be taken against those involved in illegal drug trafficking. The public has been urged to share any suspicious information by dialling 112, the emergency helpline.

Missing case turns challenging for Kadapa police

The disappearance of a woman along with her three children has turned into a challenging case for the Kadapa police, with no breakthrough emerging despite intensified search efforts.

According to police sources, the woman allegedly left her house unable to bear harassment from her husband. Family members later lodged a complaint with the Kadapa Taluk police, following which a missing case was registered.

Hussain, a resident of Kadapa, works at a chicken shop in the city. Police said his 35-year-old wife reportedly left the house along with their three children on April 10. Since then, their whereabouts have remained unknown.

Despite efforts by relatives to trace the family, no information could be gathered. A formal complaint was subsequently filed with the police on Tuesday, prompting officials to intensify the investigation.

Police teams have been deployed across the district and efforts are under way to trace the missing persons by examining CCTV footage and analysing mobile phone location data. However, officials said no concrete leads have emerged so far.

With the case remaining unsolved for several weeks, police described it as a major challenge for the department.

Two schoolboys go missing in Nagavali river

Two boys went missing while bathing in the Nagavali River in Srikakulam district on Wednesday, triggering a search operation by police and fire services personnel.

The incident occurred at Pedaganagallavanipeta in Srikakulam Rural mandal, where three Class X students from Gudiveedi village had gone to bathe in the river.

The boys reportedly entered the water near the confluence point where the Nagavali River meets the sea, an area known for strong currents. While one student, Manikanta, managed to escape safely, his classmates Sai Tharak, 15, and Leela Krishna, 15, were swept away by the current.

Police and fire services teams launched a search operation to trace the missing boys. The incident has caused concern among local residents.

Eve teaser half tonsured, paraded in village

A man accused of harassing a married woman was allegedly half tonsured and paraded through Gadekal village in Vidapanakal mandal of Anantapur district by villagers after repeated complaints of harassment.

The incident came to light on Wednesday after videos of the procession went viral on social media.

According to sources, the youth had allegedly been harassing the married woman in the name of love for the past several days. Despite warnings from the woman’s husband and family members, he allegedly continued to stalk and harass her whenever she stepped out of the house.

Upset over the repeated harassment, villagers reportedly gathered and decided to confront the accused. They allegedly caught him in the village, half tonsured his head and took out a procession using drums.

Sources said slippers and brooms were also tied around him while he was paraded through the village as a warning against harassment of women.

Following the circulation of the videos on social media, Vidapanakal police rushed to the village and took the accused into custody. Police are investigating the incident.

Railway junior engineer accused of serial train theft



Railway police have arrested a railway junior engineer for allegedly carrying out a series of thefts targeting passengers travelling in trains. Guntakal Railway DSP Srinivasachari identified the accused as P. Balaraju, a native of Yadiki in Anantapur district.
DSP Srinivasachari told the media that the police had launched a special investigation following multiple complaints of thefts reported in trains over the past few days. “Special teams were formed to investigate the cases and the accused was identified with the help of CCTV footage,” the DSP said.
According to police, Balaraju allegedly targeted passengers while they were asleep during train journeys. He is suspected of stealing bags, cash, gold ornaments, mobile phones and other valuables from passengers.


Police said the accused allegedly destroyed evidence by burning the remaining belongings after removing valuables from the stolen bags. During the operation, police recovered 20 tolas of gold ornaments, `20,000 in cash, 13 mobile phones and six tablet devices from the accused. Police are now verifying whether the accused was involved in thefts reported in other railway divisions as well.
