Hoteliers Seek Reduction in GST; Subsidy on LPG Cylinders
Swamy told reporters here on Wednesday that the two governments should consider providing subsidies on commercial gas cylinders, as rising operational costs are continuing to impact the industry.
Kakinada:Andhra Pradesh Star Hotels Association president R.V. Swamy has requested central and state governments to reduce GST on gas from 18 per cent to 5 per cent and raise the GST input benefits for the hospitality industry.
Swamy told reporters here on Wednesday that the two governments should consider providing subsidies on commercial gas cylinders, as rising operational costs are continuing to impact the industry.
The association president said another major concern is manpower requirements in the hospitality sector. He asked the government to focus on strengthening skill development centres and training initiatives, which would create employment opportunities for youth and help meet the industry’s increasing demand for skilled workforce.
Swamy said hotels are committed to work closely with both the central and state governments for strengthening the hospitality industry and promoting tourism across the state. He appreciated the two governments' vision and industry-friendly policy to attract investments. He pointed out that several star hotels have lined up to build their hotels in AP, reflecting the growing confidence among investors in the state’s tourism and hospitality sector.
Those present on the occasion included association vice president G. Venkata Krishna, secretary Ch. Murthy, joint secretary M.V. Pavan Kartheek, Moti, and Shiva Kumar.
