Yoga to Reach Every Household Through Sanjeevani: CM Naidu

Naidu proposed instituting special awards from next year to recognise outstanding yoga master trainers and asked officials to prepare a year-long action plan under the theme “Yoga for Every Household.”

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to integrate yoga with the state’s Sanjeevani public health initiative.

“Take the practice to every household as part of a larger effort to promote preventive healthcare and wellness,” he said.

Reviewing arrangements for the International Yoga Day celebrations, the CM stressed that Yogandhra should be transformed into a people’s movement and called for meticulous planning to ensure the success of programmes scheduled across the state on June 21.

As part of the Yoga Day celebrations, renowned yoga guru Baba Ramdev will participate in a yoga programme alongside the CM near the Undavalli Caves on June 20. The state-level International Yoga Day event will be held at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium on June 21, with an expected participation of 5,000 to 6,000 people.

Officials said contingency arrangements have also been made to shift the event to Ambedkar Kala Vedika with around 1,000 participants in the event of adverse weather conditions.

The chief minister was informed that 2.6 lakh trainers have already been trained under Yogandhra, while registrations for Yoga Day events have crossed one crore. State-level yoga competitions will be conducted in Vijayawada from June 18 to 20.

Yoga programmes will be organised at 1.33 lakh centres across Andhra Pradesh on June 21. Naidu will also release the “Yoga @ Destination” calendar, outlining yoga-related activities and destinations leading up to International Yoga Day next year.

Government adviser Manthena Satyanarayana Raju, health commissioner Chakradhar Babu, NTR District collector Lakshmisha, Ayush director Ronanki Gopalakrishna and other officials attended the review meeting.
