Visakhapatnam: In a tragic incident reported in the suburbs of the city, a newlywed woman committed suicide on Sunday night, within just one and a half months of marriage, allegedly due to her husband’s torture.
Reports state that the victim, Tejasree, had married Roppa Someswara Rao, a native of Srikakulam. The couple was residing in Resupuvanipalem, in the city, where Someswara Rao managed a ladies' hostel. Over the last few days, Tejasree reportedly discovered that her husband was engaging in illicit relationships with other women.
When she confronted Someswara Rao about these affairs, he allegedly began subjecting her to severe physical and mental harassment. Tejasree had confided in her parents in Srikakulam regarding the situation, however, her mother consoled her, suggesting that such issues are common in the early stages of marriage and asked her to adjust.
Unable to bear the ongoing harassment, Tejasree took her own life by hanging at their residence. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene and shifted the body to the Government Hospital for a post-mortem. Based on a complaint filed by the deceased's family, the Third Town Police have registered a case against Someswara Rao and have taken him into judicial custody. The family members are now demanding that the accused be severely punished for his actions.
