Visakhapatnam police commissioner Dr Shankha Batra Bagchi on FSports Orthopaedic Clinic Sports Orthopaedic Clinic at KIMS Hospitalsnkha Batra Bagchi on Friday inaugurated a dedicated Sports Orthopaedic Clinic at KIMS Hospitals, Seethammadhara, to provide specialised treatment for sports-related injuries.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bagchi said untreated injuries sustained during sports and fitness activities could lead to long-term health problems and affect performance. With participation in sports and fitness activities increasing in the city, he said, advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities under one roof would benefit athletes and fitness enthusiasts.

Consultant sports orthopaedic surgeon and arthroscopy specialist Dr Srinivas Gollangi said the growing popularity of activities such as cricket, badminton, trekking, marathons, cycling and gym workouts had led to a rise in knee, shoulder, muscle and ligament injuries. Arthroscopic procedures, he said, enable minimally invasive treatment, resulting in faster recovery and rehabilitation.

KIMS hospitals regional CEO Dr Nagesh said the hospital was expanding its multi-speciality services to meet the community's healthcare needs and that the new clinic would serve athletes and fitness-conscious individuals.

Orthopaedic specialists Dr Rajesh Kumar Reddy, Dr Santosh Ram, Dr Ramaraju, Dr Vasanth Babu, Dr Ashish Kumar and hospital staff were present.
