Consultant sports orthopaedic surgeon and arthroscopy specialist Dr Srinivas Gollangi said the growing popularity of activities such as cricket, badminton, trekking, marathons, cycling and gym workouts had led to a rise in knee, shoulder, muscle and ligament injuries.
Visakhapatnam police commissioner Dr Shankha Batra Bagchi on FSports Orthopaedic Clinic Sports Orthopaedic Clinic at KIMS Hospitalsnkha Batra Bagchi on Friday inaugurated a dedicated Sports Orthopaedic Clinic at KIMS Hospitals, Seethammadhara, to provide specialised treatment for sports-related injuries.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bagchi said untreated injuries sustained during sports and fitness activities could lead to long-term health problems and affect performance. With participation in sports and fitness activities increasing in the city, he said, advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities under one roof would benefit athletes and fitness enthusiasts.
