VISAKHAPATNAM: A seaman of the Eastern Naval Command allegedly refused a drink-driving test at a signal in Gajuwaka and sped away, knocking down six two-wheelers and damaging a house wall on Sunday evening. No one was injured.
Gajuwaka traffic SI K. Santaram said the seaman, identified as Ganesh Bhonsle, refused to lower his car window for the test. When the signal turned green, he sped away. A constable followed him and found him entering a narrow lane, where he knocked down six two-wheelers and damaged a house wall before stopping at a dead end and surrendering.
Seven people whose vehicles and house were damaged lodged a joint complaint. Ganesh was taken to a hospital for a blood sample test but initially refused.
He later agreed to the test on the advice of senior officers.
An FIR was registered and he was booked under Sections 281, 184 and 185 of the BNS Act, the SI said
