Vijayawada to Host State-Level Sufi Conference

The organisers said prominent Sufi scholars and spiritual leaders from Iran and Iraq are expected to participate in the event

Vijayawada: A state-level Sufi conference and a large public congregation will be organised in Vijayawada, following a resolution adopted at a meeting of Sufi leaders, Sajjada Nashins and spiritual heads from across Andhra Pradesh.

The decision was taken at an apex meeting held at the Hazrat Syed Baba Fakruddin Dargah Sharif in Penukonda, Sri Sathya Sai district, under the leadership of Shah Taj Qadri (Hazrat Taj Baba), State president of the Sufi Khan Friends Association.

Organising committee members Sufi Altaf Ali Raza Baba and Sufi Atha Nizamuddin Baba said the schedule for the conference would be announced shortly.

The organisers said prominent Sufi scholars and spiritual leaders from Iran and Iraq are expected to participate in the event. More than 5,000 Fakirs, Jalali Fukhras, Rifais, Murshids, Banwas and Khalandars from across Andhra Pradesh are also expected to attend.

According to the organisers, the conference aims to preserve Sufi traditions, promote humanitarian values, strengthen communal harmony and encourage spiritual awareness.

A state executive committee and district-level committees will be constituted to prepare an action plan for the event in consultation with representatives of major dargahs across the state.

The meeting was presided over by Jampani Atha Muhammad Nizamuddin Baba and Hazrat Taj Baba. State Mutawalli Association president K.M. Shakeel Shafi, general secretary Ubaidullah and other Sufi scholars attended the programme.
