Vijayawada Couple Arrested for Rs.11.46 Crore Overseas Job Fraud
Several victims alleged that they became suspicious about the recruitment process and the interviews conducted by the consultancy.
Vijayawada: A couple, identified as Sowjanya and Srinivas, has been arrested in Hyderabad for allegedly cheating around 750 unemployed youth by promising jobs in the United Kingdom through their firm, Flying Borders Consultancy.
According to police, the couple, who hail from Vijayawada, allegedly collected nearly ₹11.46 crore from job aspirants by offering overseas employment opportunities. Investigators said the accused used part of the money to purchase properties in Kankipadu.
Several victims alleged that they became suspicious about the recruitment process and the interviews conducted by the consultancy.
One victim said, "I began to doubt whether the interviews were genuine. Whenever I questioned them, they assured me that the process was real and that I would soon get a job. When I asked for a refund, they started ignoring my calls and eventually blocked my number."
Another victim alleged that the consultancy did not possess the required Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) licence to recruit candidates for overseas jobs.
A third victim said, "I paid ₹6 lakh after trusting Sowjanya's promises. I am not the only one, hundreds of students paid money and were cheated."
Police are continuing their investigation to identify the full extent of the alleged fraud and trace the money collected from the victims.
