Hyderabad: Senior politician and prominent Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham has passed away following a prolonged illness. He was receiving treatment for respiratory issues at a private hospital in Hyderabad.

Padmanabham spent decades at the forefront of Andhra Pradesh politics, best known for championing the rights of the Kapu community and leading the intense movement demanding backward class (BC) reservation for them. Throughout his extensive public career, he served as both a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and a Member of Parliament (MP), establishing himself as one of the state's most influential and recognizable political figures.

Leaders from various political parties have expressed their deep condolences, remembering his long years of public service and lasting contributions to the Kapu community.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the passing of former minister and senior leader Mudragada Padmanabham. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Naidu stated that he was deeply saddened by the news of Padmanabham's demise. He offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for God to grant peace to the departed soul.

Paying tribute to the veteran politician, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy recalled Padmanabham's extensive service in undivided Andhra Pradesh. He praised his contribution not just as an MLA and an MP, but as a dedicated grassroots leader who always stood at the forefront to fight for and resolve people's issues.

The Chief Minister prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and extended his deepest condolences and sympathies to Padmanabham's family members and well-wishers during this time of grief.

BRS MLA and former minister T. Harish Rao expressed deep grief over the passing of veteran political leader and former minister Mudragada Padmanabham.

Rao stated that Padmanabham's decades of public service as a public representative and minister in undivided Andhra Pradesh would always be remembered. He extended his deepest condolences to the grieving family members and followers, praying for the departed soul to rest in peace.
